Who We Are:

Electronic Security is a division within The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus Police Department. Electronic Security is responsible for equipping all exterior doors to all buildings with access control devices and/or door position monitoring; all buildings have, by default, at least one card-controlled door in their secure perimeter. The Division also installs intrusion alarms, panic devices, CCTV monitoring and research equipment monitoring (i.e. freezers, incubators) for research laboratories and other restricted zones adjacent to public areas within the same building.

Anticipated Salary Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $4,433-$4,894 monthly
  • This position is eligible for overtime compensation

Examples of Work Performed:

Electronics Access, Security and & CCTV Maintenance and Repair (60%):
  • Provide daily inspection, maintenance and repair support services by completing assigned work orders using standard work order procedures.
  • Set priorities based on urgency and make the necessary repairs; including replacing or modifying components related to card readers, locking hardware, wiring, controllers, and associated devices, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) equipment and associated devices.
  • Work independently and with an electronic security work group to learn and perform preventative and maintenance strategies.

Security Installation and Support (20%):
  • With guidance, review and interpret construction drawings, and using standard procedures set by unit, determine the correct parts, wire, supporting materials and tools to install and test installation.
  • Ensure CCURE wiring is correct and operable
  • Install proper raceways for wire routing
  • Install proper supports for device mounting
  • Install locking hardware

CCURE Software Maintenance and Programming (10%):
  • Learn and assist with computer software including CCURE 9000
  • Pull journal reports on inputs in CCURE for faults or troubles
  • Program inputs and outputs as they relate to hardware installed
  • Program events for unlocking or lockdown schedules
  • Remote into Avigilon servers to look at cameras for live viewing

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience in a occupational field related to work assigned to the position (e.g. building maintenance trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, locksmithing & painting maintenance or similar)
  • Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.
  • Substitution: Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Must meet minimum qualifications at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience with CCURE 9000
  • Professional experience reading wiring diagrams
  • Professional experience working in physical building security functions
  • Professional locksmithing experience

Competencies:
  • Experience that demonstrates strong customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written form which includes the ability to check for typographical, grammatical and spelling errors
  • Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Ability to cut and modify door frames
  • Ability to assess own work quality
  • Ability to problem solve
