Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and Project Manager, the Research Coordinator (RC) will provide support to study activities for a large multi-site community-based randomized controlled trial. This NIH-funded study will test a youth empowerment intervention targeting sugary drink intake and childhood obesity risk across ten Boys and Girls Clubs throughout the Commonwealth. The RC will be responsible for coordinating and implementing data collection activities (including scheduling, tracking, and obtaining baseline and follow-up data from study participants), participant recruitment and retention, supporting data management and intervention setup activities, providing project management support to the Project Manager, and providing administrative support to ensure smooth daily study operations. The RC will be required to travel to sites across MA for data collection activities up to 40% of the time.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of work experience required.
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, have strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities at the same time effectively.
  • Ability to work across multi-cultural and diverse environments and hybrid modalities as a member of an interdisciplinary research team.
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial, and ethnic populations.
  • Ability to interpret and make informed judgments regarding participant recruitment and data collection activities.
  • Experience working in community settings, with children and families, and/or with participant recruitment and data collection preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of or willingness to learn software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, REDCap, and related programs.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn software and applications for maintaining reference databases (e.g., Mendeley, EndNote, RefWorks, etc).
  • Ability to meet in office as needed to organize study material and travel to study sites across Massachusetts.
  • Flexible to work evenings when required; able to drive and have valid drivers license.
