Job Summary We are seeking to hire up to three post-doctoral fellows in the Net Zero Freight program at the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

This program addresses the grand challenge of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions from freight systems by simultaneously addressing fuels, vehicles, and the design of effective material transportation and logistics systems. It combines teaching and research with industrial, government, and civil society engagement to identify and amplify priority improvement opportunities.

We seek applicants for two complementary types of positions on a one-year renewable basis. The first position will focus on design of freight systems based on the Physical Internet and hyperconnected logistics and transportation. The successful candidates will have expertise in freight, logistics and/or transportation systems design, modeling, analysis, and/or governance. The second will focus on transition to electric and non-carbon fuels. The successful candidates will have expertise in a combination of life cycle assessment, energy systems modeling, policy and/or techno-economic analysis.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in industrial engineering or one of the related fields; supply chain engineering, freight systems, logistics, industrial ecology, macro-energy systems, sustainable energy systems, public policy, energy resources, chemical, civil, or electrical engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong quantitative and computational competences; Exceptional communication skills; Interest and experience in sustainability and emissions reduction.
