Associate Director for Psychology Training - Division of Student Affairs - Georgetown University

Georgetown's Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) provides a broad range of confidential psychological and psychiatric services as well as consultation about student issues to deans, faculty, staff, and parents. It is a member of the Division of Student Affairs.

Job Overview

The Associate Director for Psychology Training provides clinical mental health and outreach services to students at the Georgetown University, and to plan, implement, and oversee the Postdoctoral Fellows and Externship Practicum Students at Georgetown CAPS, and to initiate and oversee an APA accredited internship program.

They plan and oversee didactic training components required for the training experience; and provide, assign, and oversee clinical supervision of trainees; ensure that CAPS is fulfilling its agreements with doctoral psychology home programs, and requirements from the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers, and the American Psychological Association.

As well, they lead the supervisors group, keep up with CE requirements for supervisors, educate staff in training matters, match supervisors with trainees, lead group supervision, coordinate trainee seminar schedules, and ensure that CAPS remains a competitive and attractive site for future applicants.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Director of CAPS, the Associate Director for Psychology Training supervises a 3 FTE work group (2 FTE on Main Campus, 1 FTE at Law Center), and 3 to 4 part-time University Sponsored Associates; and is a part of the larger Georgetown CAPS program of mental health services. They also supervise a FTE Training Coordinator.

Qualifications
  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology
  • Licensure as a psychologist in the District of Columbia
  • Experience and competency in clinical supervision
