Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Department of Ophthalmology Administrator, the Administrative Program Coordinator provides administrative and clerical support as assigned. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating all medical student rotations within the Department of Ophthalmology, interacting with patients, taking calls and making appointments for department run clinical sites including but not limited to the Fertel Clinic and the Optical Shop, answering the phone, scheduling meetings, maintaining appointment calendars, and making travel arrangements for assigned faculty members; assisting faculty with project specific tasks; processing invoices and tracking expenditures; maintaining personnel and department files. Provides backup for other staff in the department, including the Optical Shop specialist. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the departmental website, and designing departmental newsletters.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent• Three years’ work experience related to administrative support, program coordination, or office management

Preferred Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent•Experience in a University or healthcare system setting•Ophthalmological related experience or training•Experience with a website and email marketing systems
