Job Description:


Title: Coordinator of Career-Integrated Learning


Unit: MCCC Professional Staff


Department: Office of Career-Integrated Learning (OCIL)


Reports To: Senior Director, Career-Integrated Learning


Date: September 20, 2022


General Summary:.


The Coordinator of Career-Integrated Learning will provide services such as recruiting students for career-integrated programming, advising students for career-related topics and designing career-related workshops as needed. The Office of Career-Integrated Learning is a new office at Middlesex Community College and is part of a new strategic vision for incorporating work-based learning and career-integrated learning into academic offerings at the college. The Office will include Learn and Earn opportunities, which are structured career pathways for students to pursue well-paying work in their field of study while completing degrees part-time. This individual will work with the office to service students to prepare and mentor them for career-integrated learning opportunities.


The Coordinator will promote opportunities to participate in career-integrated learning and provide preparation to students for these opportunities. This could include resumes, cover letters, interviews and job searches. By emphasizing high quality and innovative delivery and through thoughtful collaboration with faculty, students and staff, the Coordinator will support MCC's goal of providing career-integrated learning for students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate and conduct the development of career-integrated programming and services, which can include providing advising on resumes, cover letters, interview skills and job search
  • Recruit students for career-integrated experiences and other career-integrated programs across campus, community organizations and high schools.
  • Schedule, coordinate and present career-integrated learning information sessions
  • Coordinate and schedule class visits to share information about career-integrated opportunities
  • Design and disseminate materials for Learn and Earn recruitment and career-integrated services
  • Provide oversight in the development, implementation and assessment of one-on-one and group career preparation and exploration programming.
  • Plan and participate in the offering of career-related events/activities for students and faculty/staff and design, implement and analyze assessment data related to such events: (e.g. Industry/Speaker Panels, Job Fairs)
  • Develop and deliver workshops and/or events for students and faculty, including classroom visits.
  • Collect, format, and share data on OCIL-related activities
  • Work collaboratively with OCIL staff on the development of new program/event initiatives ensuring detailed program/event learning outcomes and assessment plans are developed and implemented.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:


  • Master's degree with six years of demonstrated successful experience in business development, engaging employers, and overseeing student-centered programs
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted for the required degree listed
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the community college mission and student population.
  • Demonstrated experience in equity-centered programming.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience advising and coaching students in higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, implement and maintain the technology systems necessary to support the work.
  • Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, advisory and/or design data and information.
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills
  • Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
  • Bilingual skills a plus: Spanish or Khmer.

This is a full-time, benefitted, MCCC professional staff position.


Salary Range: : Starting salary for a grade 6 position with a Master's degree is $64,615; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience. Employees of Middlesex Community College are considered employees of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and receive benefits which include:

Location: Lowell Campus with occasional travel to Bedford as needed. This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.


Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Schedule to be determined upon hire.
