Position Summary:

The faculty will be responsible for providing educational leadership, student instruction, and advisement in the Building Construction Technology and Construction Concrete programs.

Abilities and Skills:

-Ability to qualify for and successfully complete the Occupational Competency Examination in the teaching specialty area. (Minimum)
-Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, and the public. (Minimum)

-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)

Education:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education or related discipline. (Minimum)

Experience:

-Six (6) years trade experience in building construction, concrete and masonry, to include estimating and management experience in residential and commercial construction. (Minimum)
-Teaching experience at the secondary or postsecondary level. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-Teach theory and lab courses on residential and commercial building methods and techniques in the areas of masonry and concrete and estimating and management. (Essential)-Provide coordination and supervision for instructional field projects. (Essential)-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students. (Essential)-Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)-Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential)-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)-Contribute to the betterment of the College through school committee participation. (Essential)-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)-Assist with the development of grant proposals and follow up activities. (Marginal)

-Requisite tools of the trade

Physical Standards:

-Some lifting not to exceed 40 lbs. will be required.
-Some work from ladders and scaffolds will be required.

-Will include some travel to off-campus instructional project sites.

-The terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to all the provisions of the bargaining agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.

Pay Rate / Salary:

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2022/23 academic year is $58,001 – $75,775.

Additional Information:

The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.
