Basic Scientist in Imaging
Work Type: Non-Tenure Line (Research), University Tenure Line
Location: Stanford University
Categories: School of Medicine
We are pleased to announce that Stanford Radiology has opened a broad-area faculty search in imaging. This basic scientist position is full time at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level and will be appointed in one of the divisions within the Department of Radiology. Stanford University and the Department of Radiology have made substantial commitments towards the expansion of research programs, including new space at the Technology & Innovation Park, creation of a second advanced radiochemistry facility, and upgrading CT and MRI scanning facilities.
Appointment will be in the University Tenure Line or Non-Tenure Line (Research). The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-Tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
We seek applicants committed to developing a research program focused on imaging, broadly defined. This includes but is not limited to novel imaging instrumentation, acquisition, visualization or quantitative processing techniques, biomedical imaging informatics, novel chemistry/materials science for molecular imaging agent development, novel assay development, mathematical modeling, and translation of imaging strategies for clinical application. We are interested in applicants who have multidisciplinary experience that can be applied to the development of precision health, disease detection or disease management approaches. The qualified candidate should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent with experience or demonstrated potential in a relevant field.
Candidates must have an interest in leading an independent research program and participating in our center-wide efforts to translate novel technologies or methodologies into clinical practice and have the desire to collaborate with investigators in Stanford's multi-disciplinary imaging research effort, which includes faculty in the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Humanities & Sciences, as well as external investigators. The ideal candidate will have potential trajectory and/or demonstrated breadth of preparation, as exemplified by significant clinical and/or research experience resulting in high impact publications in biomedical research. A successful candidate will be expected to obtain substantial grant funding (e.g., NIH award(s)), and engage in collaborative research. We are looking for motivated individuals who are committed to excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring of students in multi- disciplinary biomedical research.
Please apply by clicking on the "Apply Now" link and submit your curriculum vitae and a candidate statement describing your clinical, teaching, and research activities and interests. The Radiology Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates may optionally include as part of their research or teaching statement a brief discussion of how their work will further these ideals.
