Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Entry-level and lateral candidates for full-time tenure-track positions. Candidates are expected to have scholarly distinction or promise and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Teaching responsibilities are based upon Thurgood Marshall’s curricular needs and applicants’ experience. Current course needs include Torts, Advanced Torts, and Insurance Law.

Essential Duties Summary:

  • Teaching responsibilities are based upon Thurgood Marshall’s curricular needs and applicants’ experience. Current course needs include Civil Procedure, Federal Procedure, and related courses.
  • Conduct research that is presentable at professional academic conferences and acceptable for publication in referred academic journals
  • Actively participates in Law School and University committees and in service to the surrounding community
  • Advises and mentors students
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Hiring Range:

Commensurate with experience.

Education:

Juris Doctor and evidence of impressive academic performance in law school, such as a noteworthy ranking or GPA, earned law review membership and involvement, or other law school honors, (e.g., Order of the Coif membership).

Required Licensing/Certification:

Bar membership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Detail oriented.
  • Effective customer service.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Multitasking and time management.
  • Both verbal and written communication.

Work Experience:

Active research agenda as evidenced by at least one journal publication at time of hire. Knowledge of use of assessments and instructional technology in teaching preferred.

Working/Environmental Conditions:

  • Prolonged standing and/or walking.
  • Handling light weight objects.
  • Using or carrying equipment.
