Description

The Director, Career & Technical Education will be responsible for the leadership and administration of career and technical education programming. The Director will also provide leadership for developing new relationships with the local and regional business communities, and for maintaining and deepening existing relationships with businesses and organizations serving the unemployed and under-employed.

Examples of Duties

  • Participates in the development of strategic plans, long-term objectives, and short-term objectives associated with Workforce Development programs and projects.
  • Oversees course development for appropriate courses and programs for CTE initiatives.
  • Recruits, screens, and makes hiring recommendations of trainers for CTE programs.
  • Works with the instructional staff in textbook adoption and curriculum development.
  • Coordinates specialized training initiatives and oversees delivery of the programs including applying for grant funding, coordinating scheduling, and maintaining communication and relationships with appropriate state and local agencies. Ensuring contract compliance in regard to training agreements (i.e. student attendance tracking, and progress report submissions).
  • Maintains and updates Department of Labor ETPL including inputting enrollment and exit of student records.
  • Manages and implements programs and services associated with the New Jersey Community College Workforce Consortium and NJLWD grant-funded programs.
  • Assists with cultivating business partnerships in the region.
  • Coordinates quarterly information sessions for Career Training Programming.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual reports associated with enrollment, performance outcomes and financial reports including state and county reports.
  • Analyzes statistical data for CTE programs to identify trends, program changes, etc.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly financial reconciliation for the department including cash deposits, billing, and credit card payments.
  • Prepares personal service contracts for department.
  • Manages online courses/programs offered through external vendors.
  • Assists with the development of marketing strategies and materials for publication in collaboration with the RCSJ Communications and Marketing department.
  • Manages, supervises, and evaluates CTE Team Coordinator and contracted instructors/vendors.
  • Manages program budgets, including revenue and expenses, to meet financial targets
  • Provides staff development support for all instructional personnel associated with Workforce Development
  • Represents the CTE unit at internal and external events Participate in community groups such as the Chambers of Commerce, the American Job Centers, and the Workforce Development Board.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in business or related field required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the business sector including writing business plans, entrepreneurship, contract training responsibilities, etc.
  • Experience with academic and career technical education, and student services operations required, community college setting preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate RCSJ’s programs in an articulate and effective manner to individual students and large groups.
  • Experience with a Higher Education Software, Ellucian Banner Student Module preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours to meet department and College needs
  • Ability to work with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound independent judgment
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.
