Position Summary:Governors State University is seeking to hire a Manager of Program Marketing and Outreach to be responsible for researching, planning, developing, and monitoring marketing strategies and content for the School of Extended Learning (SXL). The manager will project SXL’s image in a cohesive way to achieve marketing goals through effective social media campaigns, flyer design and distribution, website management, program catalogs, and event recruitment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing and Communications:
Prepares all marketing and communications for SXL, including identification of strategies, agency oversight, marketing budget development and management.
- 20% Plans and executes digital campaigns to engage leads and drive traffic to SXL website; Reports on key metrics from Google Analytics; and utilize Search Engine Optimization.
- 20% Develops and executes a social media strategy that enhances online communities (Facebook, Linked In, Twitter etc.) and coordinates efforts with overall marketing plan.
- 10% Drafts written communications (email, web content, proposals, social media content. Agora articles. grant testimonials etc.) to tell the SXL story to a variety of stakeholders.
- 10% Monitors and analyzes website and social media activity, produces reports, and modifies messaging based on data results.
- 10% Develops and implements an integrated strategic communications plan to advance brand identity, broaden awareness of programs and increase visibility across key stakeholder audiences.
- 10% Promotes awareness of the organization’s services, activities, or events through various methods such as creating and distributing flyers, creating advertisements, setting up displays, or writing press releases.
- 5% Identifies and participates in recruitments activities as necessary and leads the preparation and distribution of promotional materials and giveaways. Supports outreach activities that are outside of normal working hours in the evenings and some weekends.
- 5% Manages the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print, electronic and multimedia collateral including, but not limited to advertisements, brochures, fact sheets, case studies, online content (website, e-newsletters), annual report, photos, and video.
- 5% Leads the activities of the Spring, Summer and Fall SXL catalog and develops marketing strategy to maximize readership.
- 5% Participates on the GSU web content/audit committees as the SXL representative; manages site re-designs as needed.
Other Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates knowledge and good judgment in matters of college policy and procedures.
- Stays informed of latest technologies to support program operations and marketing tactics.
- Assists with questions and problems courteously and promptly.
Starting Salary Range: $59,499.38
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

REQUIRED: COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS, WHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION (See “Special instructions to applicants” section below).
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of previous experience in social media management/digital marketing.
- Three (3) years of experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing, and social media advertising campaigns.
- Demonstrated knowledge with Hootsuite a plus; Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends, SEMRush, etc.)
- Working knowledge of ad serving tools.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints,

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Marketing, or related field.
Ten (10) years of leading marketing and communication strategies and social media campaigns.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.Experience with, and passion for, creating and consuming new content.Excellent at time management and meeting deadlines.Experience writing grants and telling compelling storiesExperience in higher education
