  • Engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary partnerships that improve the health care provided in rural underserved communities.

Job Duties :

The ECU, College of Nursing is seeking a part-time RN to BSN Transition Coach. The RN to BSN Transition Coach will have a primary focus on working with our first semester RN to BSN students. In collaboration with the Academic Counselor, they will provide targeted services to our RN to BSN students to ease the transition from working nurse, or community college student (RIBN, aRIBN), to enrolled online RN to BSN students. The overall goal is to increase student retention, on-time graduation, and the number of baccalaureate nurses. This grant funded project will provide services to support the academic success of RN to BSN, RIBN, and aRIBN students in Eastern North Carolina. The RN to BSN Transition Coach duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • 20% Manage student support resources and develop psycho-educational programs.
  • 20% Create and deliver structured presentations that focus on the following topics: Time management, financial aid, how to write discussion board responses, Moodle, Canvas, College Transition, Campus Resources, Academic Rules and Regulations, Study Skills, Test taking, Note taking, Reading, Memory, Learning Styles, Registration, Diversity, Life Skills, Money management, Stress management, Relationships, Sleep, Safety, Technology, Leadership.
  • 30% Collaborate with CON Student Services and advisors, and University resources to assist in the successful transition of all students in an effort to develop a sense of belonging, develop academic skills and develop life skills.
  • 30% Set office hours will be established to facilitate use by students for specific assistance with assignments, guidance in courses and other issues being experienced by the individual student.

The position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.

Minimum Education/Experience :

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, School Psychology, Education, or related field.
  • Competency in various computer programs/software, to include MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Prior professional experience in higher education or a school setting.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

  • Prior work experience should include project management, recruitment and public relations, student services and/or data collection.
  • Able to work independently, collaboratively, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in verbal, written and presentation skills.
