Job Overview

The UC Histopathology Core Laboratory is a CAP-accredited, fee-for-service core facility in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The mission of the UC Histopathology Core Lab is to provide tissue histology services in support of the clinical and research missions of the University of Cincinnati. The ideal candidate for this specialized, full-time Research Assistant position will, under general supervision, provide operational and administrative support to the lab, communicate with customers, process anatomical tissue and perform routine to complex histologic procedures to provide data on the functioning of tissues and organs and causes or progress of disease.

Essential Functions
  • Perform clinical testing as requested
  • Perform testing for research purposes including, but not limited to cutting animal/ human tissue blocks and processing tissue samples per research protocols.
  • Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
  • Apply research principals for less complex assignments.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
