About the Department

Sponsored Research Services (SRS) manages the pre- and post-award functions for UC’s research enterprise. SRS is comprised of 3 departments: Grants and Contracts, Accounting, and Electronic Research Administration (ERA). The ERA department is currently hiring.

Job Overview

The Sponsored Research Administrator 2 Grants & Contracts position will engage in the day-to-day administration of proposal submission and award management; assist with the database, websites, Bearcats Landing pages, and electronic portals; assist with the administration of the electronic research database; conduct and/or carry out work procedures and activities in accordance with local, state, federal, and university regulations; and provide training to departmental staff through outreach meetings and fundamentals classes. The successful candidate will have experience with database maintenance, have excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.

This position has the potential to be a hybrid (in-person & remote) position.

Essential Functions
  • Review grants and contracts to determine source of funds, funding level and period of performance.
  • Provide proposal support and submission in the electronic research system for the areas in the university that do not have a dedicated grant administration staff.
  • Provide award review and account set-up for assigned sponsor awards.
  • Serve on committees related to business rules for processing and managing grants awards.
  • Serve as back-up support to Sponsored Research Electronic Administrator Sr for end users of the database and activity dashboard.

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree must be in business administration, database administration or related field.
  • Six (6) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience

Two (2) years of database management and award administration.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Knowledge of Kuali software.
