The Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and the research team at the Department of Mental Health (DMH) led by Drs. Adam Spira, Brion Maher, and George Rebok are part of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The mission of the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse is to support and conduct research that advances our understanding of child sexual abuse, educates policymakers and the public and cultivates partnerships with organizations to develop proven strategies that prevent child sexual abuse. The Center believes that everyone shares the responsibility for prevention, and everyone benefits when children remain safe from abuse.

The research group, led by Drs. Adam Spira, Brion Maher and George Rebok, conduct studies focused on the role of life stressors, mental health, and common infections on cognitive decline over the lifespan. Currently, they have several longitudinal studies with complex data collection protocols that include interviewing, conducting tests of memory and thinking, measuring sleep, and collecting blood and other biologic samples from adult study participants. The operational aspects of these studies are managed by a Field Director and two Sr. Research Program Supervisors, and will be located in 2 physical spaces: Hampton House and the 415 N. Washington Street building.

The Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and the research group at DMH are seeking a shared Research Administrative Coordinator to provide administrative and day-to-day operational support to their research activities. The Research Administrative Coordinator will perform duties to support research studies and center projects including, but not limited to, managing vendor services, SAP submissions and reimbursements, budget assistance, event coordination, scheduling meetings, IT requests and overseeing project specific calendars. This individual should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to prioritize task deadlines, and be highly organized. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills and attention to detail as well as the ability to work effectively between the two groups. The Research Administrative Coordinator will report to the Research Associate in the Moore Center and Sr. Research Program Supervisors at the DMH research group.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

This position will support research and project tasks at the Moore Center or the DMH research group.
  • Vendor Services for Project Needs- Mailing/Shipping, Printing, Fieldwork Cell Phone, TransUnion, etc.
  • Request quotes from vendors
  • Review invoices for accuracy and resolve errors in billing with vendors
  • Follow up on purchase orders
  • Generate check requests
  • Ensure payments have been made
  • Mailings for Project Needs:
  • Purchase supplies from companies like USPS, FED EX
  • Package/envelopes drop-offs
  • SAP System:
  • New vendor number requests
  • Generate check requests
  • Complete Concur reimbursement
  • Complete purchasing in SAP for office supplies/research supplies
  • Book travel for visitors or faculty members
  • Procurement Card:
  • Purchase supplies for research projects
  • Gather receipts
  • Submit log to the department
  • Gift Cards for Study Participant Remuneration:
  • Verify gift card receipt in collaboration with field supervisors
  • Produce Gift Card Logs to be sent to the department
  • Work with Mental Health Department administration to make study-specific maintenance requests
  • Communicate with project Grant Managers for purchase and check approvals
  • Place requests for IT assistance when needed by Study Managers
  • Track all purchases and money spent in a project spreadsheet
  • Scan, sort, file, and print files as needed
  • Assist in event coordination for project meetings, debriefings and such
  • Manage project specific calendars
  • Set up and manage Doodle polls for scheduling project meetings


  • Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Three years related experience
    • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula*

    * JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • Experience in an academic setting preferred but not required


    Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Familiarity with software applications like Microsoft Office Suite
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
    • Knowledgeable in or willingness to learn JHU financial systems such as SAP, Concur, etc.
    • Attention to detail, excellent communication, and resolution skills
    • Take initiative in troubleshooting issues independently including issues that arise with technological systems
    • Experience or willingness to learn Electronic Data Entry systems such as RedCap
    • Must be highly organized
    • Ability to multitask

    Starting Salary Range: $17.59 - $24.80/hr (commensurate with experience)

    The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
