Job Summary/Basic Function:

Assists the head equipment manager for nineteen intercollegiate teams including Football, Wrestling, Baseball Field Hockey, Volleyball, M/W soccer, M/W Basketball, Swimming, Cross Country and Track & Field, Lacrosse, Softball, M/W Tennis, and M/W Golf. Serves an estimated 450 student athletes daily.

Annual Salary Range: $24,106.00 plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment, including:

  • Health insurance – Low bi-weekly premium. Employees pay 5% of bi-weekly salary for benefit coverage with ability to pay 2.5% when participating in the wellness program.
  • Dental insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days
  • Vision insurance – Coverage is free to employee and dependents after 90 days.
  • Group life insurance – equal to annual salary (up to $40,000.00) at no cost to the employee
  • Retirement – 2 plans to choose from
  • Tuition waiver – employee, spouse, and dependents are eligible
  • Vacation leave– up to 11 days accrued per year for first 3 years, increases to 19 days per year after 3 years
  • Sick leave – up to 11 days accrued per year, including up to 5 days per year that can be taken to care for a family member
  • Holiday leave – Up to 12 days per calendar year

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Basic knowledge of athletic equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures, transportation agencies and shipment methods.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage changing demands.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Pack equipment properly for shipment.
    • Keep detailed inventory records.
    • Lift and move heavy equipment.
    • Use industrial washer and dryer.
    • Maintain athletic equipment and identify repairs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work with students, staff, and visitors of diverse cultures, racial and ethnic groups, and social, education, and economic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in coordination with others.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in college/university athletics setting.

Job Description:

  • Maintains and organizes inventory lists of equipment and apparel before, during, and at the conclusion of every sport season.
  • Assist the head equipment manager to purchase equipment based on the recommendation of inventory, budget restrictions, product knowledge and other pertinent information.
  • Cleans and sanitizes game and practice uniforms on a daily basis.
  • Inspects equipment for breaks, tears, flaws and determine which equipment needs to be sent off campus for repair or maintenance and fix that which can be handled on campus.
  • Assist the head equipment manager with equipment lists, inventory documents and
  • recommendations.
  • Assist with the Management and organization of the safety and security of inventory estimated at $300,000 of value.
  • Organizes uniforms and equipment by student athlete and distribute them prior to the start of each game.
  • Assist the head equipment manager with all aspects of laundry operations including pick up, delivery, laundering, drying, folding, hanging, maintenance of machines and equipment, supplies, and overall cleanliness of all laundry areas.
  • May need to respond to inquiries and complaints from staff or students.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Extensive writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Understanding of written directions.
  • Ability to stand for long lengths of time.
  • Must work outside for up to 6 hours a day.
  • Must be able to lift/pull/push up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
