Research Technician IIThe Parker Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology is seeking a motivated, goal-oriented individual to be a research technician and laboratory manager. This member will be expected to assist with the day-to-day management of the laboratory, as well as with investigations of host-microbe interactions and evolution using pea aphids.
Qualifications
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ordering and maintenance of laboratory supplies and reagents. Assist with maintaining laboratory compliance for various regulations. Preparing media and solutions for the laboratory. Perform experiments to support ongoing research projects. Help direct undergraduate students in the laboratory.
- Infection studies using insects and their associated microorganismsGeneral microbiological techniquesGeneral molecular biological techniques including nucleic acid extraction and PCRNext-generation sequencing and analysisGeneral microscopy techniques
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or related field
- A Master’s degree in Microbiology, previous laboratory experience, and proficiency with laboratory techniques
