Job Overview

The Inventory Control Assistant enters data in maintenance software; periodically drives to vendors' locations; and verifies accuracy of orders, receives orders, and returns orders to the Fleet Garage in order to ensure 100% accountability of the purchase and operate the customer service window.

They ensure the prompt delivery of repair parts and materials to 600+ Vehicles and Equipment of the University; and support the Motor Pool personnel who provide the day-to-day service to the staff, faculty and students of the Georgetown Community.

Work Interactions

The Inventory Control Assistant interacts with University community and garage mechanics as vehicles and equipment are brought in or returned for service. They listen to issues of concern of users and communicate adequately what problems there may be with equipment to the community and employees. They also monitor, record, and dispatch Motor Pool Inventory.

Qualifications
  • High School
  • At least 2 years of experience in automotive, fleet operations, stockroom or warehouse operations
  • A valid current Class ‘C' - or equivalent - motor vehicle operator's license from applicant's state of residence at time of employment application
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License Medical Certificate for vehicles over 10,000 lbs.
  • Demonstrable computer skills and the ability to work with MS Windows and database software
