The position reports to the Assistant Dean in the School of Education. As a designated Credential Analyst to the State of California, this position has university authority to recommend teacher and service credentials to the State of California's Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). In coordination with the Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Chairs, and Program Directors, this position oversees admissions, advising, credentialing, and data reporting related educator preparation at a state and federal level. This position regularly interacts with educator candidates and school and district partners. This position may have a non-standard schedule.
Required Education

Bachelor's degree.
Required Experience
-
Five-seven years of professional experience preferably in the area of credentialing.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Develops and maintains knowledge of:
-
CTC regulations, procedures and requirements
Educational practices relating to the credentialing function in the California school system
Curriculum offered and program requirements for credential programs offered in School of Education
Laws, rules, and regulations related to teacher education and the granting of credentials for public school service in California
Admissions, Registrar, and Student Financial Services' regulations, procedures, policies, and academic requirements relating to admissions, advising, and credentialing
Division of Teacher Education course offerings, course sequencing, policies and procedures related to the academic advising of candidates
Interprets, analyzes, applies, and implements CTC regulations, procedures, and academic requirements in support of credential candidates and to ensure accurate academic advising.
Interacts with, shares expertise, and collaborates with departments, regional campuses, other offices in the university, school systems, and state agencies related to the granting of credentials for public school service in California and related to the academic advising of Division of Teacher Education credential candidates.
Academic evaluation, analysis, and recommendation for candidates enrolled in, completing, or seeking admission to credential programs.
Provides a high level of customer service to students. This customer service may include:

Preparation of letters for students to verify eligibility for employment and status of credential or program
Provision of information on possible credential options
Preparation of letters of denial or appeal when a candidate has not met requirements for a credential
Provision of accurate advising forms to Division of Teacher Education credential candidates during advising/re-advising sessions in person, by phone, or through technological means.
Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft office products, including Word and Excel.
Proficiency in Google Applications, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Hangouts.
Able to use computer, data systems in the School of Education, and spreadsheets with skill and accuracy.
Written and oral communication skills to prepare clear, accurate correspondence and reports and to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally in person, by phone, or email.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Strong organizational skills, initiative, flexibility.
Able to work independently, as well as, cooperatively and effectively as part of a team.
Able to prioritize, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines.

Able to handle the pressure of decision making that can impact the School of Education, programs, and students.
Analytical skills to anticipate/identify problems, compare data to draw conclusions, develop goals/plans for resolution and implementation.
Detail oriented and able to understand and process the details in the larger context.
Ability to learn procedures, retain information, and adjust to new processes and credential regulations.
Agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian-based higher education for its students.
Physical Demands

Constant use of computer keyboard and mouse, requiring repetitive wrist, finger, and arm motions.
Hearing and speaking on the telephone.
Able to conduct business at other offices on campus and regional centers.
Ability to lift, pull, stoop to lower file drawers and reach to top of five-drawer file cabinet.
Able to lift up to 20lbs. occasionally.
Ability to sit for longer periods of time.

Compensation
- Grade 10: $25.94 - $33.72
- Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity
