Compensation: Starting Salary is $46,500. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Description:

The Respiratory Care Program at Santa Fe College provides quality education that is student-oriented, accessible to a diverse student population, and based on the healthcare needs of our community. All Allied Health Programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). In addition to regional accreditation, the Respiratory Care program is accredited nationally by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.

Allied Health Programs is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor, Respiratory Care faculty member to provide didactic, lab and clinical instruction in both the night and weekend program as well as the traditional weekday program.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities and duties may include:

  • Conduct classes on the weekends, weeknights and weekdays.

  • Plan, organize and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory, classroom, and clinical settings to promote student success within a community college setting.

  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.

  • Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.

  • Evaluate student learning, manage course activities, consult and mentor students and participate in professional development for the improvement of the Respiratory Care program.

  • Maintain consistent communication with students, clinical assistants, clinical instructors, and clinical sites.

  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance.

  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes.

  • Verify students clinical paperwork, health records and required screenings are complete prior to students clinical internship.

  • Participate in departmental and team meetings and committee work as requested.

  • Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to student success and excellence in undergraduate education.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites.

  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chair, Allied Health Programs

Qualifications:

Required: Minimum of an Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Care. Professional licensure and/or certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) as required by the State of Florida is required. Four years’ work experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist is required with at least two years’ in clinical respiratory care. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 3 months of hire.

Additional Requirements: Documentation of immunizations and health screening are required. A criminal background check and drug screening will be conducted.

Preferred: Baccalaureate degree, relevant teaching experience, and the ability to incorporate instructional technologies in the classroom are preferred.

  • Relationship Management – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
