Description:POSITION TITLE: HVAC Technician-Industrial SystemsQUALIFICATIONS:· High school diploma or GED; however, an Associate’s Degree from a technical or vocational school is preferred· At least three years of experience as an HVAC-R technician and journey level experience· North American Technician Excellence (NATE) service certification or a State of Texas Certified Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician or pass all testing within eighteen months and receive either NATE service certification or State of Texas ACR certification within 24 months of date of hire· Certification with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), preferred· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot HVACR systems with little or no supervision· Demonstrated ability to work well within the team environment· Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record· Must be able to walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, reach and lift up to 50 lbs.· Must be able to work in elevated spaces, confined areas, and noisy or dusty areas· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materials· Ability to perform mathematical calculations as appropriateRESPONSIBILITIES:· Performs preventive maintenance· Troubleshoots on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, steam, and electronic components of environmental control systems and equipment associated with multi-story buildings and labs· Performs maintenance tasks ranging from changing air filters to performing preventive maintenance on large air handling units· Installs replacement coils, motors, electronics, compressors, thermostats, humidistats, fans, and other components of chilled water and direct expansion environmental control systems to include commercial refrigeration and process heating and cooling· Utilizes measuring instruments such as multi-meters, refrigeration gauges, thermo-hygrometers· Works to resolve any issues with the heating and cooling systems and maintains records and prepares reports on repairs and services· Receives and completes work orders and informs appropriate personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action, and/or complying with building and safety regulations· Works from written and/or oral instructions· Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete necessary installation and/or repairs· Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns· Relocates and expands existing HVAC systems, as needed· Performs other related duties as assigned
