Description:

The Mathematics Department at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks exceptional candidates to fill a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the area of Topology, starting August 1, 2023. Candidates in all areas of topology, pure and/or applied, are encouraged to apply.

The University of Tennessee at Knoxville is the flagship university in the Tennessee state higher education system. The state of Tennessee is in strong fiscal condition. Starting salaries for assistant professors in the Mathematics Department are very competitive. For eleven of the last twelve years, the State and/or the University have provided funds for raises. Knoxville is a vibrant and diverse medium-sized city in the Tennessee Valley of East Tennessee, near Nashville, Atlanta, Asheville, and the Smoky Mountains, with a relatively low cost of living.

 


Qualifications:

A PhD or equivalent degree in mathematics must be earned by the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Evidence of potential for excellence in research and high-quality teaching is required. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.
