The department is home to an Archaeology lab, a Biological Anthropology teaching lab, and the director of the Guard House Museum. We are located on the beautiful and historic Summerville campus.Job Summary Job ID # 248950PSN #20010590 The Department of History, Anthropology, and Philosophy at Augusta University seeks a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of History with ability to teach the history of Africa and the Islamic World. Other specialties and subfields open. Ability to support a new doctoral program in International Security Studies and/or a new undergraduate certificate in Africana Studies would be considered a plus. Appointment to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and display a compelling research agenda. PhD in History or related field required, awarded prior to appointment. The successful candidate will teach survey courses in US History and World history, as well as upper-level courses in African History, other areas of the Islamic world, and potentially other courses in the candidate’s areas of interest. Standard duties for academic-year faculty include teaching undergraduate history courses, advising and mentoring students, maintaining a strong research program, and providing service to the Department, College, and University.Responsibilities
    Teach courses in the History curriculum, including History of Africa and History of Islamic World and other classes during the academic year as assigned by ChairParticipate in the continued development and assessment of the History curriculum and programsAdvise and mentor history students and participate in student recruitment for department programsContribute to student successEstablish and grow an agenda of discovery, including producing scholarly work and research publications per department guidelines for HistoryParticipate in shared governance of the university and university system as well as provide service to profession and scholarly service to communityProviding timely grading and student feedbackAdhering to all academic policies of the UniversityMaintenance of a high quality research programAttendance at faculty meetings and other required university function
