Position Summary:

The Department of Student Financial Aid Customer Operations and Outreach at Florida Atlantic University seeks scholars who are committed to supporting the learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds and to engaging communities underrepresented in higher education. Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Senior Financial Aid Officer - Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities include:

  • Advises students and families at the front desk with processing of their financial aid application, assist with completion of forms, eligibility requirements, and documentation necessary to comply with federal, state, and institutional regulations as well as policies and procedures.

  • Provides phone, lobby central and Ivy chat coverage.

  • Prepares outgoing mail and distributes incoming mail to appropriate recipients.

  • Logs scholarships checks for auditing purposes as well as secure delivery to assigned counselor.

  • Performs an initial verification review of records of students selected by the Federal government.

  • Determines the appropriate documents needed and requests the necessary forms and documents.

  • Reviews tax forms and other collected documents and makes changes, if necessary, in compliance with federal regulations and university policies.

  • Ensures accuracy on FAFSA information in compliance with Department of Education anti-fraud policies.

  • Assists with FAFSA Workshops & outreach, Financial Aid literacy outreach which may include Orientation presentations, SLS courses, and speaking on Financial Aid topics during departmental events.

  • Serves as liaison and approver for the Florida Virtual College and processes Concurrent enrollment for students attending FAU and other institutions to ensure eligibility for financial aid awards.

  • Reviews financial aid files for fraudulent activity in compliance with federal regulations.

  • Writes and maintains financial aid guidelines for handling fraudulent information.

  • Organizes and maintains adequate supplies and necessary forms of lobby, front desk, and mail/phone room for the orderly daily functions of these areas.

  • Coordinates the printing of forms or purchase of supplies with the Executive Secretary. Reviews financial aid website for accuracy and updates.

  • Performs other duties as assigned including cross training, professional development, other projects assigned by the supervisor or AVP.

Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience required.

Customer service experience is required.

Financial aid experience is preferred.

Salary:

$19.63 - $20.71 per hour
