Service+ Student Success Coordinator

Job Summary:

Service+ Student Success Coordinator will provide support to students serving as AmeriCorps members to ensure success both academically at Miami and while completing their year of national service. Primary responsibilities pertaining to student support include recruiting and retaining eligible students, monitoring student participation and growth, leading cohort activities including professional and personal skills training, and assisting with technical aspects of Service+, including but not limited to evaluation and program development. The coordinator will be a member of the Center for Social Impact. While this position is based at Regionals, there will be occasional work on the Oxford campus. The position is renewable contingent on performance and funding.

Duties/Physical Demands:

The Service+ Student Success Coordinator will be responsible for:
Recruitment
● Establish marketing materials and programming to attract eligible students to participate in Service+.
● Assist students with preparing and completing the application and required materials.
● Recommend appropriate host site placements based on students’ skills and interests.
● Establish an emerging leaders pipeline program to engage and encourage students from diverse backgrounds to participate in AmeriCorps.
● Establish an alumni network for students who participate in Service+.
Retention and Success
● Research and gain a thorough understanding of resources available within the Miami University system and community to ensure student success in the Service+ AmeriCorps program.
● Foster a sense of community among AmeriCorps members.
● Lead cohort training and development activities that will strengthen members’ knowledge and skills as a result of their service in the AmeriCorps program.
Program management and assessment
● Gain a clear understanding of the details of federal regulations, state laws, Miami University regulations, and AmeriCorps administrative requirements to help monitor appropriate policies, procedures, and interpretation to guide successful implementation of the Service+ program.
● Create and maintain a tracking/monitoring system to meet federal grant compliance requirements. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the processing and collection of required documentation for members pre-, during, and post- service; this includes but is not limited to member service agreements, timesheets, progress goals, and all program forms (i.e. Teleservice, Time-off requests, training documents).
● Oversee evaluation and assessment timeline for members; administer activities as appropriate.
● Compile, edit, and write qualitative and quantitative progress reports for Service+ members. Assist with writing annual reports that include analyzing program impacts and student success.
● With the Regional Director, establish metrics for assessing the scope and effectiveness of the Service+ program goals as it pertains to student success. Track those metrics throughout the year.
Collaboration and innovation
● Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to establish innovative connections that ensure academic success of Service+ members, improve access and involvement in national service programs at Miami, and engage AmeriCorps alumni
● Participate in mandatory professional development opportunities and creatively integrate into Service+

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of work experience in education, human services or closely related field, with at least two years in student support and/ or mentoring; experience in program and/or curriculum design; experience in grant and/ or program management; working knowledge of program evaluation and assessment.

Position not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a master’s degree in education, nonprofit management, or related degrees; experience with AmeriCorps and interest in using national service as a resource to support student success in higher education; experience in federal and/or state grants; demonstrated ability to produce high-quality final products; knowledge of Butler County and issues faced by region.
