SUMMARY:

The Assistant Professor in Assistant Professor in Biological Science (Molecular and structural biology) is responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate biology courses, conducting original research in the area specified below, and providing service.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (15 or less):

  • Develop and maintain funded research program
  • Attract and mentor both graduate and undergraduate students
  • Develop graduate classes in their area of expertise.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
  • Advising students
  • Preparing syllabi
  • Updating course materials
  • Developing curriculum
  • Delivery of instruction both online and on any of the university campuses. Instructional duties may include teaching during the day, in the evening, or on Saturday
  • Working collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs
  • Providing service to the department, college, university and public schools, and community
  • Continual learning to stay current with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Ph.D. degree in Biological Science
  • Research Area: Molecular biology, Structural biology, and Computational Biology
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Scholarly publication record or demonstration of scholarly potential in the research area listed above. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Commitment to high quality teaching. Dedication to high standards and student success. The position requires teaching courses in the area of developmental biology and molecular biology. Successful and effective prior teaching experience/record is important.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Student mentoring and academic advising experience are preferred. Prior faculty experience in 4-yr universities is also preferred.
