Assistant or Associate Professor Counseling Psychology

Position Information: DescriptionThe Department of Education, Health and Behavior Studies within the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota (UND) is searching to fill two (2) Assistant or Associate Professor faculty positions in Counseling Psychology, serving the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program contingent upon availability of funding. These positions may be tenure-track or an offer of tenure may be based on a candidate's documented record of achievement and subject to approval from the Department, College, University and the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a potential research line, and evidence of commitment to social justice and/or health disparities. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to UND’s Doctor of Counseling Psychology and Masters of Counseling programs.  This position will be primarily on campus (not remote).

Duties & Responsibilities
    Produce peer-reviewed publications within area of research expertise and seek external grant funds.Teach graduate courses, and advise and supervise graduate students.
  • All faculty are expected to contribute service within the programs, department, college, university, and community.  UND and the College of Education and Human Development value diverse perspectives and seek applicants who are committed to helping students from underrepresented backgrounds succeed.
Required Competencies
  • Ability to produce a research product within an area of research expertise.
  • Ability to teach graduate-level courses and to advise/supervise graduate students.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.Ability to supervise graduate students and contribute to service within the department, college, university, and/or community.A commitment to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion within the field of psychology.
Minimum Requirements
  • Earned Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from APA-accredited program or closely related field by August 15, 2023.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications
    Demonstrated ability or interest to produce research within an area of research expertise and potential for obtaining external funding.Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching graduate courses.Demonstrated experience or interest to advise and supervise graduate students.Demonstrated experience or interest in program administration.Expertise in diversity, social justice, and service program to rural and/or underrepresented communities (UND Strategic Plan’s Goal 5 & Goal 4, Grand Challenge #3).Eligible for licensure or licensed mental health professional in North Dakota.
Minimum Hiring SalarySalary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
