Summary

Postdoctoral Fellowship – Yu Lab of Systems Biology

The Yu Lab in the Department of Computational Biology is seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral research associate focused on spatial omics and systems immunology. The Yu Lab is interested in developing systems biology algorithms, including NetBID (Du et al., Nature 2018), by integrating multi-omics data at both bulk and single-cell levels, to dissect the intracellular and intercellular network wiring and rewiring in healthy and disease conditions, as well as the underlying hidden drivers, and then translate the discoveries into potential clinical applications. The candidate will develop computational and systems biology approaches for network and hidden driver analysis from spatial omics data, single-cell omics data (e.g., scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, single-cell proteomics, and spatial transcriptomics). The successful applicant will work in a dynamic environment, performing integrative analysis of multidimensional datasets in the context of basic immunology and cancer immunotherapy.

As one of the premier pediatric research institutions in the world, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital provides exceptional resources and a supportive environment for career development. As a postdoctoral fellow, you will interact with leaders in cancer and translational research within and outside the institution and at national/international meetings. Innovative research will be supported by the lab’s infrastructure, which includes a wet-lab component. Postdocs have considerable flexibility and freedom to develop their research programs.

St. Jude provides a highly interactive and supportive environment for researchers’ career development and has been named to Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2018. St. Jude is a top-ranked hospital (#1 for pediatric cancer specialty in the U.S. in 2017) and a world-class basic research institute with 260+ faculty members. St. Jude postdoctoral fellows are provided with a highly competitive salary in an affordable city, a professional development allowance ($2,500), and an array of benefits, including sign-on bonus, health, dental and vision coverage, and a retirement program.

The initial appointment will be for 1-2 years and can be renewed for up to a total of 5 years, depending on the candidate’s goals and qualifications.

Interested candidates, please complete the online application and email your CV and cover letter to jiyang.yu@stjude.org.

Minimum Education

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent). Applicants with a PhD in a quantitative field (computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, genetics/genomics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related fields) are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Experience

Strong candidates from a primarily wet-lab or clinical background who wish to develop sophisticated quantitative skills will also be considered. Successful candidates will have a track record of scientific productivity, e.g., a first author paper, or a demonstrable contribution to a large project. Experience in immunology or cancer immunotherapy or single-cell technologies is desired.
