Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The ERP Developer will report through Information Technology Services (ITS) but will be dedicated to supporting the needs of Human Resources. This position will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to help ensure that the administrative systems within the area are secure, reliable, and continually improved.

Position Summary:

The ERP Developer will be an accomplished software developer and analyst, who has deep expertise in Banner HR. This position will be HR’s Banner expert and understands how the product is supposed to work, what’s coming on the horizon, and where opportunities for improvement exist. This position will be a senior member of project teams for Banner implementations and upgrades, as well as for building, enhancing, and maintaining custom-built applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Mid-to-late-career with Masters and 2-4 yrs experience; Bachelors and 3-5 yrs experience; or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Higher Education or state agencies.
  • Experience with Banner Application development.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Pro*C.
  • Experience with server-side languages such as Java, and JavaScript, and run time environments like JVM.
  • Experience with Banner Workflow, Banner Document Management, Atomic (Appworx), Employment & Compensation, Benefits/Leave, Payroll, Position Control, EPAFs, Faculty and Tenure, Web Time Entry, Banner HR Self Service.

Key Responsibility:

Providing client service, operational support, and maintenance

Essential Tasks:

  • Provides Banner (ERP) support to HR. This requires considerable specific ERP module knowledge as well as specific functional department operations knowledge.
  • Understands area business processes and how they are achieved using the ERP system.
  • Provides timely answers and solutions to the area’s ERP needs.
  • Addresses any urgent issues impacting time-sensitive functional business processes.
  • Performs ERP operational management and maintenance in coordination with the area.
  • Performs knowledge transfer to functional staff as needed.

Essential Tasks:

  • Performs analysis, design, integration, and support work for Banner ERP and associated systems.
  • Conducts guided interviews and meetings with users to evaluate needs and define system requirements, issues, and constraints.
  • Develops detailed solution documentation including minor process descriptions and program specifications.
  • Develops time estimates, solution implementation schedules, and infrastructure resources requirements based on size and nature of work effort.
  • Coordinates implementations in accordance with the University processing calendar and with area’s activities as needed.
  • Performs project and task management as needed.

Leading ERP development and testing

Essential Tasks:

Performs analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation of development solutions. Interacts with area specialists, analysts, and directors in determination of requirements and review of results. Tests solutions using standard, University-established testing methodologies, and resources, and shares and confirms test results with clients. Reviews and updates or creates documentation for existing ERP solutions as needed.
