The mission of Georgetown Law's Institute for Technology Law and Policy is to close the gap between law, policy, and technology by training students, educating policymakers, and informing the public about the key challenges and opportunities that arise at the intersection of law and technology.

Job Overview

The Institute for Technology Law and Policy at Georgetown University Law Center is seeking a Program Director with extensive experience in the field of access to justice and technology for its newly launched Judicial Innovation Fellows (JIF) program.

The Program Director for Judicial Innovation Fellows (JIF) provides leadership and strategic direction for an ambitious program to place technologists and designers from the commercial sector as fellows in courts across the United States to develop innovative solutions to access to justice challenges.

The Program Director - working closely with the program's faculty director and Institute's executive director - leads the development of the JIF pilot over its first two years in activities that include but are not limited to organizing convenings, working with courts to identify potential projects, meet with stakeholders, developing recruitment strategy for fellows, developing a program structure and management plan for the program, spearheading fundraising and communications efforts; overseeing the publication of reports and white papers; and supervising the day-to-day functions of Institute staff, fellows, and students.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Institute for Technology Law and Policy, the Program Director for Judicial Innovation Fellows works closely with the faculty director and the program's advisory board regarding program development and implementation, fundraising, communications and publicity, and day-to-day program activities. Qualifications
  • Doctorate or JD
  • 8+ years law-related experience with a substantial focus on access to justice and public interest technology
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative programs or research agenda
  • Excellent research, speaking, and writing skills
  • Professional judgment to represent the Judicial Innovation Fellows program in interactions with senior local, state and federal officials and other stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Project management, fundraising, and writing and editing skills
  • Professionalism and sound judgment
  • Willingness and availability for regular travel


Preferred qualification

Experience in management, fundraising, and/or grant management
