The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University seeks a board-certified/eligible Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician-scientist in any area of clinical or basic science research to join the Department and Division as an Assistant or Associate Professor in the University Tenure or University Medical Line.

• The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.
• The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The primary focus of this physician-scientist will be to further the academic research of the division, department and School of Medicine. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the care of patients followed by the inpatient and outpatient Infectious Diseases services. The successful candidate will be involved in formal and informal teaching of Infectious Diseases fellows and in other specialties, as well as medical students and other graduate students. To be considered a candidate in the University Tenure and University Medical line the successful candidate must have a focused research interest and a record or potential of scholarly accomplishment.

The successful candidates must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, have completed at least three years of postdoctoral or clinical fellowship training, and must be board certified in Pediatrics and board certified or board eligible in Infectious Diseases and have a California Medical Licensure by the starting date of their academic appointment. The successful applicant should have demonstrated outstanding research or potential for outstanding research relevant to Pediatric Infectious Diseases, including basic, translational, clinical, epidemiology/statistics, informatics, health services, or health policy. We expect the successful candidate to establish independent or collaborative, high-level research programs related to the translation of basic discoveries in the field of pediatric infectious diseases, possessing or having the potential for NIH-level grant or other funding support. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to advise undergraduate and medical students and should possess creativity and strong interpersonal skills in order to work in a collaborative and diverse faculty. Opportunities for clinical service activities in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases will be available and the proportion of clinical effort will depend on the candidate’s interests and training. There will also be the opportunity to participate in direction of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Transplant/Immunodeficiency clinical program.
