Description
Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate (Nuclear architecture and gene regulation in development and cancer)

We are inviting applications for Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate positions to study the gene regulatory mechanisms during development, cancer, and tissue homeostasis. We explore the molecular mechanisms of signal-induced gene regulation by non-coding genomic elements and the regulatory functions of nuclear membraneless compartments using cancer and developmental model systems. These projects will employ an array of contemporary molecular and cell biology approaches, including NGS-based chromatin analyses, CRISPR-based genome/epigenome-editing, high-resolution live-cell imaging, and proteomic approaches. Animal models will be employed to study the biological implications of molecular discoveries. The multidisciplinary nature of the projects will expose the candidates to several cutting-edge technologies and facilitate their growth as independent and innovative thinkers.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree (or about to graduate with a Ph.D.) in biological sciences with an interest and experience in applying of molecular biology/biochemical methodologies, microscopy, and genomic tools to study cancer, aging, and developmental biology. Individuals with experience in/aptitude for NGS data analyses, visualization, and various computational biology platforms (E.g., command-line tools, R, Python) will find these projects even more exciting. Individuals will be encouraged to and will have opportunities to obtain training on computational tools. There will be opportunities for scientific collaborations both within the institutes and with neighboring research facilities. Candidates will get dedicated mentorship and opportunities for scientific and professional growth. D.C, Maryland, Virginia triangle offers an outstanding scientific environment with a perfect blend of vibrant city life, great neighborhoods, and several excellent school districts. The salary and benefits are as per NIH regulations commensurate with experience. The position is available immediately.

Interested applicants should send (i) A brief statement of previous research experience and future research/career plans (ii) a Curriculum vitae with the contact information of three referees as a single PDF file. This position is in the lab of Dr. Sreejith Nair. Please contact him directly if you have questions (sn778@georgetown.edu).
