Description:

The Department of Computer Science at Smith College invites applications for two positions, one Open Rank position and one at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to begin on July 1, 2023.   Dedicated teacher-scholars from all areas of computer science or closely related fields are encouraged to apply. Qualifications for both positions include a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (such as Electrical and Computer Engineering), a strong commitment to teaching, and a high potential for research.  We seek candidates with scholarly interests that contribute to the diversity of research specialties within the department; especially welcome are hardware, systems, robotics, bioinformatics or theory. Applications should highlight  experience and interest in undergraduate teaching and ability to actively engage diverse student populations across the liberal arts. For the Associate/Full Professor position, we welcome candidates who show qualities and experience that will enable them, after a short period of adaptation, to take on leadership roles in the governance of the department.

Located in Northampton, MA, Smith College is the largest women’s college in the country and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research across the liberal arts.  A faculty of outstanding scholars interacts with students in small classes, as academic advisors, and through student-faculty research projects. Holyoke Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  Students cross-enroll and some faculty cross-teach across the Five Colleges.
