Position Summary::

The UA Early College program invites applications for a UAEC 200: College Readiness Instructor position. This is a twelve-month, non-tenure earning position that is renewable every three years depending on need, funding, and performance. The UA Early College program solely enrolls high school students.

The UA Early College program admits nearly 1,500 new high school students annually. All incoming students are required to take the introductory, college readiness course before moving forward and taking other UA courses through the program. The five-week course is solely online; however, the first-class meeting is delivered online, on-campus, or at a satellite location. The UAEC 200: College Readiness Course is offered sixteen times a year (primarily monthly), so the course does not follow the traditional semester-term or quarter-term schedule. Enrollment monthly for each UAEC 200: College Readiness Course varies, but enrollment typically ranges from 30 students to 300+ students monthly.Responsibilities include the following:● Serve in a full-time instructor capacity (work a minimum of 38.75 hours)● Teach the five-week, online UAEC 200: College Readiness Course, to all UA Early College students (for all 16 course offerings)● Prepare each UAEC 200 section by creating course schedules, updating course links, adding users, and revising Blackboard content to fit each section● Teach the online, on campus, and satellite UAEC 200: College Readiness Course first class meeting, which is live (online) or face-to-face (on-campus or satellite)● Actively participate in the online course seven days per week● Hold afternoon or evening office hours two days per week, as well as over weekends as necessary, particularly in the evenings● Create weekly video announcements and host live Zoom strategy sessions periodically during each individual UAEC 200 section● Communicate twice weekly or more often with UA Early College staff about the academic progress of UAEC 200 students● Collaborate with Instructional Designers during the course development process, which includes creating and revising course content (assignments, rubrics, and tutorial videos) during the course revision process● Participate in service opportunities including UA Early College information sessions and eventsWe seek a talented and innovative instructor who demonstrates an ability to work with diverse groups of high school students and educators. As a community of knowledge builders, we are looking for a productive and creative colleague who, through teaching, will bring new perspectives to the delivery of an online course and online instructional practices.Minimum QualificationsApplicants must have an earned master’s degree in English, secondary education, instructional technology, or communications from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1-year online teaching experience. Candidates must have a strong record of excellent teaching and communication skills and experience teaching high school students. This position requires flexibility to work days, nights, weekends. Occasional travel may be required.Preferred QualificationsApplicants with an earned Ed.D. or Ph.D. in secondary education, English, or instructional technology from an accredited institution and a minimum of 1-year online teaching experience in Blackboard Learn will be given extra consideration.
