Job Title:         General Maintenance - 2nd Shift

Reports To:     Facilities Supervisor   

Status:              Full Time, Hourly Staff (40 hrs/wk)

            

General Description

The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and buildings including carpentry, heating and cooling, minor electrical, minor plumbing, masonry, and other building systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintains and services various areas of the College, including painting, carpentry, masonry, minor plumbing, flooring, and other repairs as needed
  2. Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
  3. Performs routine inspections of assigned buildings
  4. Will be required to answer emergency calls
  5. Requires indoor and outdoor work
  6. Requires the ability to drive a vehicle to visit job sites
  7. Effectively interact with vendors, staff, students and faculty
  8. Assist with event set ups and break downs
  9. Assist with snow removal in inclement weather
  10. Rotating emergency on-call schedule
  11. May require walking long distances, standing for extended periods, twisting, bending, reaching and kneeling
  12. Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  1. Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in maintenance related functions
  2. Ability to read and write in English, do basic math and follow instructions
  3. Ability to read blue prints/make working sketches
  4. Work in a collaborative manner as part of the site team
  5. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  6. Use maintenance, trade and testing equipment and tools
  7. Valid NYS driver’s license required
  8. Oversee work progress of vendors or outside contractors
  9. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance

 

Hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, & Sunday 3:30pm – 12:00am. 

Overtime as deemed necessary.

Must work all Major College Events that fall on weekends/holidays

Enrollment/Student Body Profile. Our student body is made up of 2,700+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. 1,800 are traditional undergraduate students.

Academic Programs. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Our collaboration programs offer you a chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College. The college also offers master's degrees in education, business, and nursing.

Faculty. Students learn from our faculty, the majority of whom hold a Ph.D. or the highest terminal degree in their field. Our Student/Faculty Ratio is 17 students:1 faculty member.
