Work Schedule:

M & TH 8-5pm, T & W 10am-7pm; F 8 - 4pm; some weekends

Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 15 with a minimum of $56,925. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by planning, coordinating, delivering, and reporting on the recruitment activities related to new student enrollment. Work is distinguished by being responsible for coordinating high school, middle school and home school learners’ outreach. Direction is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years experience in student recruitment, admissions, or sales and a minimum of two years experience developing curricula for workshops and special events required or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Considerable knowledge of the U.S. higher education system, including various institutional types, variety of program offerings, credential ladders and basic understanding of transfer articulation processes.
  3. Good knowledge of best practices in new student recruitment, with special focus on recruitment of multicultural students.
  4. Good knowledge of scholarship opportunities and associated scholarship processes
    Good knowledge of the financial aid application process and awarding processes.
  5. Good knowledge of international student enrollment processes and student visas.
  6. Considerable skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher
  7. Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  8. Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  9. Working skills in verbal and written communication.
  10. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  11. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.



Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Master's degree preferred

Essential Duties:

  1. Meet with prospective students and families on an off campus informing them of educational opportunities at ECC. Advising prospects of available services and resources at ECC. Provide adequate follow up that will assist a prospective student through the enrollment process.
  2. Coordinate high school and middle school and home school outreach initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Admissions, Recruitment Coordinators and faculty.
  3. Collaborate with Director and Recruitment Coordinators to develop service and learning outcomes for recruitment activities. Create and implement methods to measure performance. Analyze results and modify practices to promote effective and efficient use of college resources.
  4. Develop and implement the Student Ambassador program, which includes marketing/promotion, interviewing students, recommending hiring, evaluation, and development of training materials. The Ambassadors conduct outreach to prospective and admitted students through a variety of mediums (phone, internet, and face-to-face). Train and supervise the student ambassadors maintaining a consistent staff of 6-8 throughout the year.
  5. Assist with the coordination, marketing, distribution and awarding of internal scholarships at ECC. Acting as a liaison with the Elgin Community College Foundation, Financial Aid , college personal, community members and 509 high schools.
  6. Develop, coordinate, assist with various recruitment initiatives: Academic Excellence, High School senior awards presentation, campus visit events, Tech Prep orientation, etc.
  7. Some weekends and evenings will be required for this position, including attendance at assigned off-campus events related to recruitment and college promotion.
  8. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  9. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  10. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  11. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  12. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality

Satelitte Campuses: ECC holds classes throughout the northwest suburbs at off-campus locations scattered across the district.
