The Assistant Director for Career Advising for the College of Engineering will provide career advising and programs for undergraduate students from all Engineering departments, and serve as team lead for marketing & communications.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide 1:1 career advising for students from all College of Engineering programs, with special emphasis on advising undergraduate students.
  • Create, deliver, and continually improve career education programs, including single-session workshops, multi-session mini-courses, and intensive boot camps.
  • Create, distribute, and continually improve career education content, including how-to guides and online video instruction.
  • Serve as a team lead for Marketing & Communications:
    1. Create graphics and descriptions for career events & workshops
    2. Create weekly CDO newsletter for engineering students
    3. Create content for CDO Instagram account
    4. Refine brand standards for marketing content & workshop presentations
    5. Liaise with staff at the College of Engineering to distribute & promote events
    6. Hire and manage student intern to assist with above
  • Provide outreach to student groups to co-organize and deliver career programs, especially events related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Conduct ongoing outreach to Associate Chairs of undergraduate programs, departmental staff, and select faculty in order to develop a sense of community and career support for students in each program. Collaborate with faculty in developing course-specific advising on how to translate completed course projects into resume content, networking conversations, and interview answers.
  • Coordinate with team lead for Employer Engagement to develop a deeper understanding of positions, qualifications, and employer needs for a select subset of industries that our engineering students are interested in.
  • Cooperate with team lead for alumni relations in order to implement alumni-student programming (networking events, alumni panels, etc.), and to identify and cultivate alumni contacts within the industry.
  • Develop and administer surveys to capture, analyze, and report data on internships, coops, and post-graduate employment for undergraduate students.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3-5 years of related experience
