Colgate University is seeking qualified candidates for a Advancement Communications Manager within the Office of Communications.

Reporting to the Campaign Communications Director, this position is focused on institutional advancement communications. The advancement communications manager is accountable for content creation for cross-platform communications that support, increase the engagement of, and steward alumni, parents, and other supporters, in the areas of fundraising, career services, and alumni relations.

Content Creation and Production

Description:

Develop and implement cross-platform communications for the Institutional Advancement Office, including website content, brochures, reports, magazine stories, invitations, videos, solicitations, newsletters, etc.
Research, interview, write, and edit high-quality, error-free copy in line with Colgate’s editorial style. Curate and adapt content for designated communications channels.
Assist with editorial suggestions for university publications based on advancement priorities.
Proofread departmental documents including e-newsletters, proposals, e-mails, donor signage, etc.
Coordinate with communication team for creative design and execution of materials.

Communications Planning and Strategy

Description:

Serve as primary liaison with the offices of advancement, alumni relations, and career services to identify communications needs, develop and implement annual communications plan, and ensure achievement of goals and objectives for alumni engagement and philanthropic support.
Oversee project development from initial client concept meeting through launch or delivery.
Ensure brand and messaging consistency across all platforms of advancement communications.
Develop metrics, with reporting plan for advancement communications initiatives, making changes and redirecting strategies as needed.

Professional Experience/ Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in advancement, alumni relations, communications, project management, marketing, recruitment, public relations, or journalism.
  • Excellent writing, editing, publication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative while under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen and respond to differing points of view and the ability to move towards resolution.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and Google docs is required.
  • Must be capable of creating and maintaining productive and collegial working relationships with a culturally diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and visitors on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or experience in higher education advancement or alumni relations preferred.

Education:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field is desirable.

Other Information:
