Please note this position is an on-site teaching role at our San Jose, CA campus.

Transfer knowledge including theory, practical skills, methods and techniques. Impart practical application of principles, techniques, and software. Other aspects of teaching include; supervision of instructional activities, curriculum and course development, and creation of teaching and instructional materials.

Precalculus, Calculus 1, 2, & 3

Discrete Mathematics: Logic. Set theory. Functions. Relations. Proofs by mathematical induction. Recursion and program correctness. Fundamentals of counting, and discrete probability. Elementary graph theory. Introduction to analysis of algorithms

Linear Algebra & Transformations: Graphical representation of vectors and vector projection. Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors. Linear Transformations. Matrix theory and its association with linear transformations. Complex Plane and Rotations, Reflections and Projections therein. Unit Circle and its Applications in Rotations. Quaternion Algebra. Bezier Curves and its applications.

Geometry and Transformation: Descriptive geometry including points, lines, planes, intersections, spatial relationships. Transformations. Projective Geometry: plane transformations, homogeneous coordinates, space transformations, perspective projection. Differential Geometry: Theory of curves and surfaces. Quaternions and rotation sequences.

Mathematics for Computer Graphics: This course focuses on math concepts and algorithms used in the Computer Graphics field. It addresses mathematical topics and application of these topics in modeling, rigging, animation, texturing, shading, lighting, and compositing. It also introduces techniques used in particle and fluid simulation for visual effects. This course will establish solid mathematical foundation and ability to apply basic principles of computer graphics.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach one or more classes per semester
• Collaborate with department faculty in curriculum implementation, student support, and continuous program improvement. Ensure curriculum and syllabi are up to date and all classes have relevant materials through program review
• Maintain regular office hours outside of instructional time
• Participate in department meetings and student success initiatives
• Participate in program learning assessment
• Build and maintain community and industry relationships, including project partnerships, student opportunities
• Maintain subject knowledge
• Other duties and related projects as assigned

Working conditions

This job operates in a classroom environment on-ground and/or online with extensive people interaction. Classes may be scheduled at night, during the day, as well as on weekends.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit for long periods; use hands and reach with hands and arms for such activities as keyboarding.

Qualifications

Education:

Master’s Degree in Related Field OR Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree is only acceptable with extensive industry or teaching experience.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working at a professional level with practical domain specific experience.
• Teaching experience in an academic or professional setting is preferred.

Skills:

• Strong computer skills including an ability to collect and analyze information.
• Competent in a wide variety of tools or techniques related to the pertinent field.
