About the Department

Our Resident Education and Development team is responsible for providing leadership in the development of a positive community within the residence communities. Our goal is to be a partner in students' educational journey through an intentional, educational and vibrant residential experience!

Job Overview

The Assistant Director of Training & Development in Resident Education and Development sits on the leadership team of the department and directly supervises 2 full-time Area Coordinators who manages neighborhoods of campus. This live off campus position is responsible for setting a vision for staff training bi-annually, supporting the hall staff with execution of various training seasons, as well as oversees the ongoing professional development of our entire department. The Assistant Director should have a strong ability to network across campus as well as regionally to provide opportunities for professional development both for student and full-time staff in RED. The Assistant Director serves on the management team on-call duty rotation and may be responsible for responding to after-hours crises or support.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the development and recommendation of policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and in implementation of training for all levels of staff in the department.
  • Serve in after-hours emergency contact rotation with members of the RED Leadership Team.
  • Liaison with university offices to provide services and training opportunities for professional and student staff.
  • Prepare reports as requested by director.
  • Advise department committees on training and development and represent Resident Development at student affairs leadership level meetings as requested by director.
  • Track RED professional staff development plans.
  • Coordinate GPS job performance evaluations with HR Coordinator and leadership team.
Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree must be in College Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration or related field.

Required Experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in Student Personnel, Counseling, higher education or residence hall administration or a related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
Additional Qualifications Considered

Master’s Degree.
