The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine to serve as a Movement Disorders Physician for our inpatient services at UC Medical Center and full-time faculty member.

Provide direct patient care to Neurology and Movement Disorders patients at UC Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, UC Health Physicians’ Office – West Chester North, and the University of Cincinnati (UC) Gardner Neuroscience Institute. Patient care responsibilities include both inpatient consultation and outpatient office visits and procedures. This faculty position will simultaneously teach as they provide clinical care as they will be accompanied by medical students, residents, and fellows in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This faculty position will also deliver both formal and informal lectures and evaluate program curriculum.

Faculty member will work 45 hours per week, nine hours per day, five days per week. Three weeks per year, faculty member will be assigned to inpatient consultation service instead of outpatient clinic.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluate and treat outpatients, performing programming of deep brain stimulators for the treatment of movement disorders, administering botulinum toxin injections for the treatment of dystonia, spasticity, and other movement disorders.
  • Examine and treat hospitalized patients by collecting, recording and maintaining patient information, such as medical history, reports, and exam results; analyzing records, reports, test results, or examination of information to diagnose the medical condition of patients; prescribing or administering medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury; monitoring patients' conditions and progress and re-evaluating treatments/adjusting therapeutic interventions as necessary; explaining procedures and discussing test results or prescribed treatments with patients and families.
  • Interpret microelectrode recordings during deep brain stimulation procedures for movement disorders.
  • Precept and teach medical students from UC College of Medicine, residents from the Department of Neurology Residency program, and clinical fellows from the Movement Disorders Fellowship program while performing direct patient care.
  • Participate in the quality improvement framework of the medical units
  • Regularly attend section/divisional/departmental meetings and educational events, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Must have all of the following prior to effective date of appointment:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Completion of four years of post-graduate medical training in Neurology.
  • Completion of a two year Movement Disorders fellowship.
  • Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board.
