Job Summary

The College of Visual and Performing Arts at Kutztown University announces the following position beginning fall 2022 – Executive Director-Curator, the Center for Mallet Percussion Research. This position is responsible for curating and archiving historical documents and artifacts, and will serve as a liaison, director, and collector with attention to overall building operations for the Center for Mallet Percussion Research (CMPR).

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • organizing new collections, maintaining records and cataloging acquisitions in the Past Perfect Collection Management System,
  • managing the building schedule,
  • serving as the audio technician for performances including live streaming,
  • raising funds, obtaining grants,
  • supporting research efforts
  • directing special projects relating to collections
  • supervising accession and donor contact records
  • making recommendations to Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts related to budget and artifact preservation/storage efforts
  • attending center at professional conferences, workshops or meetings, as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications

This is a full-time (12 month) staff position that begins fall 2022. The successful candidate must be willing to work flexible hours, which will include some weekends. Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s Degree preferred) in percussion, music education, musicology, or similar field with a strong knowledge and background in percussion, along with three years of relevant experience in the field.
