Description:

The Mathematics Department at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks exceptional candidates to fill a Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor position in the area of Probability, starting August 1, 2023. 

The University of Tennessee at Knoxville is the flagship university in the Tennessee state higher education system. In recent years, the Department of Mathematics has steadily increased its research prominence both within the University and in the larger mathematical community. Opportunities exist to collaborate with researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS). The state of Tennessee is in strong fiscal condition, and the University has provided salary increases for the past ten consecutive years. Knoxville is a vibrant and diverse medium- sized city located within easy driving distance to Chattanooga,  Ashville, Nashville, Atlanta, and the Great Smoky Mountains. It has a beautiful and walkable downtown, numerous cultural attractions, eclectic shopping and restaurants, and relatively low cost of living.


Qualifications:

A PhD or equivalent degree in mathematics or statistics is required at the time of hiring. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Primary consideration will be given to candidates whose interests overlap with those of existing faculty.

Evidence of potential for excellence in research and high-quality teaching is required.
