Boston University has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Peoplesoft Developer to join our Student Renewal Program! We are looking specifically for someone to focus on the Student Information Systems (SIS) Core Implementation project as a Senior Developer.

The position will play a critical role on the implementation of Peoplesoft Campus Solutions, on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Under the supervision of the SIS Core Application Development Lead and working in close collaboration with the implementation partner. The Student Information System (SIS) Renewal program is a Boston University-wide effort to modernize the Information Technology systems in order to better serve our students and support the university's strategic priorities, while mitigating the technical risk our current, custom-developed, mainframe based SIS presents.

Over the next two years, the SIS Renewal Program team and implementation partner Deloitte Consulting will configure and launch new processes and systems for Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Records, Curriculum Management, Student Advising, Student Financials, and Student Employment. Related changes to the process and tools for creating student BUIDs and system access, as well as academic reporting and data analytics will also be included.

Major Duties:

  • The Senior Developer position will analyze, develop and/or implement application enhancements, integrations, reports as it relates to project delivery.
  • The position will be responsible for developing and/or confirming effort estimates for the technical work assigned, and to provide the Project Manager(s) regular updates of progress on project tasks.
  • The Senior Developer will also be expected to help and mentor less experienced members of the development team.
  • This position will actively review and contribute to relevant project and ongoing support documentation artifacts.

In addition, the Senior Developer will need to have superb communication skills! We are looking for a dynamic and versatile individual to work with and provide input to other project workstreams (such as Change Management, Business Architecture, Functional Analysts) and companion projects (Reporting, Student Employment, IAM, Graduate Admissions Upgrade) as needed across the SIS Renewal program. After the implementation effort is complete, the Senior Developer will play a critical role in ongoing support and operations of the Campus Solutions system.

Required Skills

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8+ years experience using Peoplesoft Campus Solutions.
  • Demonstrable skills using Peoplesoft development tools, preferably 8.56 or above, such as, but not limited to: PeopleSoft Application Designer, PeopleCode, SQR, DataMover, Application Engine, SQL, and other Oracle/PeopleSoft tools.
  • A strong understanding/experience of web services and Integration Broker is also required.
  • Experience working with Fluid

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with enterprise architecture, systems design, database management systems, and emerging web technologies.
  • Strong attention to detail and debugging skills.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to adapt to continuous change.
  • Has worked successfully in a client-oriented team environment.
  • Able to collaborate with team members and think of out-of-the-box solutions.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Comfort working on a cross-functional, matrixed team.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes including service management, configuration management, incident management and change management.
  • In-depth knowledge in software development methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze, understand and effectively communicate between business requirements and technical design.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Familiarity with higher education student systems.
  • Experience working on large scale implementations, performing common project activities, including: Data Conversion, Integrations, Application Development, Report Development, Domain Architecture, Solution Design, Coordinating and performing testing System Integration Testing (SIT).
