Job Details
The Department of Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the rank of assistant professor to begin in August 2023. Primary teaching responsibility will consist of 6 undergraduate courses per academic year (3-3 load) with one course release during the first year and an additional course release during the tenure-track period. Specialization is open. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or related field by the time of appointment.

Profile of the Department:
The Department of Social Sciences includes programs in Criminology/Criminal Justice, Political Science, and Sociology and is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. With over 600 majors, the Criminology & Criminal Justice program is one of the largest programs in the university. The program includes two undergraduate degree options and it will launch an M.S. online program this fall. The department has a strong commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational environment
Required Education and Experience:
PhD in criminology, criminal justice, or related discipline is required as well as outstanding research potential and excellence in teaching.
ABDs will be considered but must have completed the PhD by the time of appointment.
One year teaching experience in a university setting is required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Candidates for this position should have an active research agenda leading to high-quality publications.
Expertise in quantitative research methods and ability to teach methods and statistics is preferred.
A highly qualified candidate will demonstrate dedication to student-centered learning and principles of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
