Description:
The Tulane School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine is seeking applications for a postdoctoral fellowship focusing on health equity. The postdoctoral fellow will be supervised by Dean Thomas LaVeist. The postdoc will join the Tulane Institute for Innovations in Health Equity – which is directed by Dean LaVeist – and will work closely with him to develop research initiatives in that topic area. The fellowship is for a year and may be renewed yearly after the annual review.
The successful candidate will have been trained in quantitative research methods including data collection, survey research, and data analysis. Good manuscript writing skills are essential. Knowledge of principles and concepts in health equity as relates to race, and social class is required. Knowledge of qualitative research methods are a plus.
Qualifications:
- PhD is public health or related fields such as sociology, demography, psychology, or related discipline
- Documented experience in health equity research
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills and strategic thinking
