The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital are seeking applications for the Keenan Chair in Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital-Unity Health Toronto. This is a renewable, joint University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital Chair. The successful candidate must be part of the St. Michael’s Hospital Department of Surgery and currently hold a PhD and/or MD with an academic appointment at the rank of Professor (or Associate Professor nearing promotion). The tentative start date of this appointment is December 1, 2022.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding and innovative world-class researcher whose accomplishments have made a major impact in their field, and who is proposing an original, innovative research program of the highest quality, in alignment with the research pillars of Unity Health Toronto.

Applicants will be evaluated by an Appointments Committee according to University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital policies. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity (including grants and awards, peer-reviewed publications, quality and safety program development, collaborations locally, nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows and provision of quality and safety education at the graduate and post-graduate levels) and contributions to the field.

The Chair will support academic activities of the incumbent, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational events.
