Basic Function:
The Visual Arts Department invites applications for a tenure track faculty position beginning in the Fall of 2023. The faculty position should be a visionary, collaborative instructor who will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Multimedia.

Under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair or Program Director, the Associate Professor is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses. The Associate Professor is to serve as an academic advisor to students; serve on faculty or university committees; and engage in scholarly activities, and/or creative endeavors which contribute to the academic mission of the University, as outlined in the faculty handbook.

Representative Duties:
• Teaches a range of undergraduate courses with a knowledge of principles and elements of multimedia and digital art practices E
• Engage in professional and scholarly research consistent with a teaching university, including skills as a practicing artist E
• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours E
• Provide academic and profession mentoring to students E
• Facilitate the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of the Department consistent with those of the College and University E
• Maintain professional and ethical standards in all duties E
• Offer service to the University and community E
E = Essential Duties

Knowledge Of:
• Knowledge of media theory and history, creative development and research methodologies from a variety of perspectives
• Demonstrated knowledge of professional multimedia software and hardware
• Principles and best practices of effective teaching
• Student learning outcomes and methods of assessment
• University curricula
• Community and campus resources, services, programs, and professionals available to students
• Methods of gathering, analyzing, and preparing data
• Modern computing technology
• Record keeping techniques with regard to student enrollment, attendance, and progress

Ability To:
• Demonstrated experience working in one or more of the Multimedia department’s primary program areas (Animation, Digital Cinema, Motion Graphics, Web Design, Special Effects, Game Design, Digital Design)
• Experience in supervising student-driven projects
• Excellent communication skills in interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, and decision-making
• Ability to develop students’ vision, style, and innovation in ways that respect diverse voices, perspectives, aesthetic values, and experiences.
• Ability to relate well with students and colleagues
• Ability to connect and engage with diverse groups on campus and in the wider community

Minimum Qualifications:
A Minimum of a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from an accredited institution appropriate to the position discipline. Ph.D. is preferred.
