Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Emergency Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track to co-lead efforts to support trainees and faculty members (and other health professionals, as appropriate) who wish to develop careers as investigators and scholars in medical education and other disciplines that overlap significantly with education. Expertise is required in the specific area of the use of qualitative methodology in health professions education related research. Furthermore, we seek an individual with an international reputation for excellence and an established track record of mentorship of others seeking to build a career in areas related to health professions education. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Teaching responsibilities may include working with others at CHOP and Penn to develop and teach courses and other activities to assist trainees and faculty members build research skills in health professions education, especially qualitative research methodology. Additional teaching responsibilities may include teaching in relevant graduate level courses at Penn.
Clinical responsibilities may include activities in the faculty member's clinical specialty (if relevant).
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include providing direct mentorship to trainees (e.g., medical students, residents, fellows, doctoral students, and post-doctoral trainees) and faculty members who seek to develop programs of research in health professions education and other overlapping fields. Additional research or scholarship responsibilities will include pursuing a program of research in health professions education, publishing in peer-review journals and pursuing extramural funding as appropriate.
