Responsibilities

Under the supervision of an FOM Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic has the following main responsibilites:

• Maintains, inspects and repairs chilled water, high pressure steam, domestic and heating hot water and medical gas systems, glassware washers, kitchen equipment, and other mechanical equipment/systems such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, variable frequency drives, fans, air handling units, air compressors, etc.
• May lead, train and assist Maintenance Helpers.
• May include operation and maintenance of the hospital's medical infectious waste incinerator, deionized and RO water systems and pneumatic tube systems
• Making up equipment electrical connections
• Minor locksmithing, welding and fabrication of metal components, changing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, and other duties required to achieve the department's mission.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED required

Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent education/training desired

Minimum Experience

Three (3) years experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment and systems (steam, condensate, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.) required.

Experience in a hospital or research (or similar) environment preferred.
